One of the best ways to work fast in Excel is by using Excel keyboard shortcuts. Each second you save not reaching for your mouse can add up to valuable time over a workday.
Here are some popular Excel keyboard shortcuts so you can be more productive:
- Press Ctrl+; to insert the current date
- Add the current time by pressing Ctrl+Shift+:
- Do both, by adding a space in between – press Ctrl+; SPACE Ctrl+Shift+:
- Ctrl+D to copy the contents of the cell directly above – this will copy the formulas if it contains formulas
- Ctrl+R to copy what’s in the cell to the left
- Press Ctrl+F to open the Find tool
- Ctrl+H to open the Find & Replace tool
- Ctrl+Shift+L to add Filters
- Turn your number(s) into a percent by pressing Ctrl+Shift+%
- Ctrl+Shift+! to apply number formatting with 2 decimals
- Use Ctrl+Shift+~ for General style formatting
- Create outside border by selecting your data and pressing Ctrl+Shift+&
- Press Shift+F2 to insert a Comment
- Press F7 to launch Spell Check
- Insert a Table or Convert your data to a Table by pressing Ctrl+T
- Press F11 to quickly insert a chart
