With Text to Columns, you have 2 options for how you can split the cell data:
- Delimited or
- Fixed Width
Split the Contents of Cells using Text to Columns / Fixed Width
Fixed Width adds splits in the same spot in all the cells selected and is ideal for separating content that has all the same number of characters.
Split the Contents of Cells using Text to Columns / Delimited
When you use Delimited to separate cells, you can select 1 or more delimiters (spaces, comma, semicolon, etc) for which to separate your cells at. This is ideal for separating content that varies in length, like names, and in which all the cells in your selection share a common delimiter.
